I’m so tired of guys showing interest in me and then finding out I don’t just wanna hook up and then ceasing all communication. I’m almost 27 freaking years old! Is there not someone that wants to actually date and think about building a family? Is that really too much to ask?

Seriously, Facebook? My Newsfeed is NEVER like this. Schooling more people. Maybe I should just get off the internet for a while, but it’s my first day after classes are over and all I wanna do is nothing.
…for complaining that everyone was praising Jason Collins for coming out, but “criticizing” Tim Tebow for his religion. Totally not the same thing. As a pro athlete, saying that you’re gay is is in no way comparable to saying that you’re part of the 74% of the US that claims to be Christian. At all. It’s just not.
Now, that said, I don’t quite understand why Tebow gets so much criticism. Granted, I think he’s an ass and does a lot of things for show, but he gets crap for answering the interviewers questions about his religion! If he brought it up in every question, regardless of the topic, ok sure. And maybe he does that, I don’t know. Like I said, I can’t stand him. But you can’t get mad for asking someone a question and not liking the answer when you know what it’s gonna be.
This seriously just made my eyes well up. I’m not sure my mom will ever be able or willing to do this…and it hurts.

One thing I do find interesting within the gay community is the emphasis on masculinity. Why is it that gay men feel the need to exceed their comfortability just to be perceived as “masculine.” I have ran across this numerous of times…where I am a natural masculine male, men will assume that’s…
For me, masculinity has always been something I struggled with. I grew up playing baseball, but in the band. Helping build a shed from the ground up, but wanting to play dolls with my girlfriends at school/daycare. As I got older and started to realize I was gay, it became even more of a struggle. I thought that if I was as masculine as I could be, no one would realize I was gay. Obviously, this isn’t a totally thought out or true statement, but I still hold that the more masculine the man, the less likely he is to be perceived as gay.
I also remember being mistaken for my mom on the phone as a kid and that bothered me to no end. Mom would always say that would change as I got older. And it did to some degree, but my voice is one of the things I most self-conscious about. I still on occasion, especially if I’m tired for some reason, to be mistaken for a woman on an intercom or telephone. My voice isn’t as high pitched as a woman’s, but it’s not deep and booming like my 6’1” linebacker frame suggests it should be.
Also, a lot of gay men are attracted to “manly men” for primal reasons, so it’s a way to seem more attractive in the eyes of many. The flamboyant guys are easy to spot, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but when you’re attracted to masculinity, you also generally want to exude it you want to be like the kind of guy you’re attracted to. I think that’s something innate and unique to the gay male community and different enough that no straight man could truly ever understand it.

I so hope that they make it. I know that can’t be easy. Hell, I’m 26 and I can’t imagine being married, but I truly wish them the best. And I do have to say that I’ve got some pride that they’re from my hometown.
This just goes to show you that LGBTQ people truly do come from every walk of life and are a part of the fabric of the South. Always have been and always will be.
…I had stuck with Cub Scouts up through Boy Scouts, but I got burned out during 2nd year Weblos. WTF is a Weblos anyway? I absolutely love camping and nature, but the “leadership” in my troop was lackluster at best. And, honestly, it would have only been another group of people telling me that there was something inherently wrong with me. I’m not sure I could have handled that.
…and he’ll never understand why. He pretty much said that people should just ignore bigotry in all forms and let it go. LET IT GO? That’s really easy for a straight, white, cis male to say. It started after I posted a link on Facebook to the article I just posted here. I seriously doubt he even read it. We’ve been very close friends for 14 years, but he has changed so much in the last couple years that I don’t even know if I want to be friends with him anymore. My heart is kinda broken at the moment and I fee like I could just burst into tears…
